eKultura Portal — the central online hub for accessing Croatia's digital cultural heritage.
The eKultura portal was developed within the eKultura project "Digitisation of Cultural Heritage", funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme "Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014–2020". The project is implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Media in cooperation with partner institutions: the Croatian State Archives, Croatian Radiotelevision, the Museum of Arts and Crafts and the National and University Library in Zagreb.
The purpose of the Project is to contribute to increased use of information and communication technologies in communication between citizens and public administration by establishing an information system for communication coordination and developing a central software solution in the cultural heritage sector. The general objective of the Project is to increase the protection and online availability of digital cultural content, while the specific objective is to ensure secure storage of digital cultural content in one place and provide users with unified access to such content through an appropriate ICT system.
The eKultura portal is the central online hub providing access to and searching of existing digital collections of Croatia's cultural heritage. The collections presented on the portal are stored in heritage institutions throughout Croatia, which professionally care for them. The goal of the portal is to present to the public the heritage we inherit and pass on to new generations.
